A currency management company operating in the transport logistics industry was identified with an engineering design need. The Company’s existing two-wheel trolley was determined to be the cause of various worker injuries, and inefficiencies resulting in significant losses for the company. A complete trolley redesign was proposed as a Level 2 Risk control measure to address the various performance and worker safety concerns.
A detailed investigation determined the engineering, WHS and ergonomic requirements needed to meet all stakeholder requirements. Autodesk’s Inventor was used to model the ideal trolley design and perform stress analysis simulations to optimise the design to both ensure structural integrity for the required use, and reduce the overall weight of the trolley to allow safe manual lifting.
